Everest Base Camp Trek is truly one of the most popular treks in the Himalayas. This trek takes you to the base camp located just below the highest mountain in the world, Mount Everest standing at 8,848m.
Setting foot on Everest Base Camp at least once in a lifetime is considered a dream for the both young and the adventurous. While trekking along, you get to enjoy the stunningly beautiful sceneries, explore the unique himalayan landscapes with varying altitudes, and vegetation. You also get to witness and experience the culture, tradition and lifestyle of the local mountain people. We walk through rhododendron, magnolia and giant forests; visit Buddhist monasteries and admire nature throughout the trek.
While trekking in the Everest region, you might also see the diverse fauna in and around Sagarmatha National Park. Birds like Danfe Pheasant, Himalayan Monal and Himalayan Snowcock are in abundance. Wild animals such as Himalayan Musk deer, Himalayan Tahr, Himalayan Goral, Bharal, Himalayan Blue sheep or Naur dot the landscapes if we are lucky enough.
Everest Base Camp Trek the ultimate thrill
The trail meanders through rhododendron forests, fields of barley and apple orchards following up the Dudh Koshi River. We head towards Namche Bazaar where you will stay one extra day for acclimatization. This is a chance to explore a colourful local market and nearby villages.
We then, head north and travel through the popular Himalayan villages/towns. Places like Tengboche, Dingboche, Chhukung, Lobuche and Gorakshep provide fantastic view-points. Although the ultimate high point of the trek is Kalapathar, from where we get an up-close view of the surrounding peaks. Witness the might of Everest(8848m), Mt Lhotse(8516m), Mt Nuptse(7861m), Mt Amadablam(6812m) and Mt Pumori(7161m) all standing tall and breath-taking. We also get to see Mt Cho Oyu(8188m) and Mt. Makalu(8485m) as an added bonus. We also pass through to experience Sagarmatha National Park (the natural heritage of the world).
The entire Everest region is highly influenced by Sherpa culture, tradition and Tibetan Buddhism. In this region, we see lots of ancient monasteries, ageless villages, hard working Sherpa Communities and a pelthora of cultural festivities.
