Mount Everest North Col. lies at the edge of the Tibetan Plateau on the border between Nepal and Tibet (China) and is regarded as one of the popular eight-thousanders in the world. Climbing Everest is an amazing experience for every climber as it is the highest mountain in the world. Most Nepali people refer Mt. Everest (South Side)  as Sagarmatha, meaning "Forehead in the Sky." Tibetans and Sherpa people refer to it as Chomolungma, meaning "Goddess Mother of the World.”. The mountain itself is a pyramid-shaped horn, sculpted by the erosive power of the glacial ice into three massive faces and three major ridges, which soar to the summit from the north, south, and west and separate the glaciers.

Everest: From the North

Climbing on Mt. Everest from Tibet side has become quite popular among the westerners. Low cost of royalty and other basic mountaineering services, as well as the safest route to the summit, are the key factors to attract more Everest climbers from North Col. than from the South Col. Technically, it is more challenging than the Southside but does not have the ice fall danger. One of the charms of Everest North Ridge route is that it offers the view of virtually the whole route from the base camp. North face expedition mainly starts from Tibet side.. Climbing from the Northside is a lifetime experience for climbers how they perform at an extreme altitude. North Col expedition via north-east ridge is a perfect option to make the success happen without facing much crowd as compared to Everest south side in Nepal. From Tibet, side expedition team will need to do several rounds of practice for climbing and acclimatize before actual climbing to the top.

Himalayan Global Expedition organizes Everest North Col Expedition every spring/autumn.  The trip starts driving from Kathmandu to Kerung (1850m) and further to Tingri. We will reserve 2 days for rest in Tingri for acclimatization and the following day we drive to Everest Base Camp  (5200m). After 2-3 rest days in Base Camp, we proceed to Intermediate Base Camp (5800m) with yaks. The next day we will leave for Advance Base Camp  (6400m) where we will set up a camp similar to our BC. One day later we climb the North Col (7000m). It usually takes 5-7 hours up and 2-3 hours down to Advance Base Camp.
