There are two distinct Lobuche peaks: Lobuche East (6,119m/ 20,075ft) and Lobuche West (6,145m/ 20,161ft). Lobuche East is 26 metres (85 ft) higher than Lobuche West. Between the two peaks there exists a long deeply notched ridge. Lobuche East Peak is considered one of the popular and easy climbing peaks in Nepal. This peak looks attractive and offers many choices of routes for climbing. Seen from near Pheriche, the dark triangle of its rocky east face rises above the moraines of the Khumbu Glacier towards the icy skyline. This skyline forms the south ridges, the junction of the east faces with the glaciated southwest face and the line of the normal route of ascent. This, in turn, leads to the summit ridge running northwest from the top of the east faces through several small summits to the east peak.
