Dhampus peak (6012m) is one of the easy and popular peaks for climbing in Nepal. This peak is also known by Thapa peak and located northeast of the Dhaulagiri massif. Dhampus peak climbing offers mixed cultural experience and the stunning views of various mountain peaks of the  Annapurna region.  Though it is a non- technical peak, one should be physically fit and have peak climbing experience to climb and summit  Dhampus peak.

The normal route begins at Nayapul after we drive from Pokhara. Then, we follow the west ridge passing through Tikhedhunga Ghorepani Tatopani Kalopani Marpha  Yak Kharka & finally summit the Dhampus peak. This ridge also adjoins the Dhampus Pass (5200m). The High Camp for the peak is erected here, from where climbers attempt for the summit. Scaling the summit depends on how fast the climbers can acclimatize in higher altitude. It takes about one and half a week to climb Dhampus Peak.  Autumn & spring season is the best time for climbing Dhampus peak.,

If you want to gain an easy experience of mountaineering in Nepal where a few climbers venture, you can choose Dhampus Peak. The use of crampons depends on snow conditions. However,  experience in walking on snow/ice is advisable.
