Cho Oyu (8,201m)  is the world’s sixth highest mountain that stands astride the Nepal and Tibet border, only 70 kilometers west of Everest. Cho Oyu literally means "Turquoise Goddess" in Tibetan. The mountain lies the westernmost of the Khumbu sub-section of the Mahalangur Himalaya 20 km west of Mount Everest is considered the major peak The mountain stands on the China-Nepal border.

Only a few kilometers west of Cho Oyu lies Nangpa La Pass  (5,716m/18,753 ft), a glaciated pass which connects the main trading route between the Tibetans and the Khumbu's Sherpa. This pass separates the Khumbu and Rolwaling Himalayas. Due to its accessibility to this pass and the generally moderate slopes of the standard northwest ridge route,  Cho Oyu is considered the easiest 8,000-meter peak to climb. We use the normal route that ascends the north-west face from the Tibetan side of the Nangpa La, which was an old Caravan and Trading route to Nepal.

The Expedition to Mount  Cho-Oyu

Mount  Cho-Oyu Expedition begins with a long drive from Kathmandu via a newly opened route that passes through Langtang region up to  Kyirong border town also spelt as Kyidrong in Nepal and Dzonga in Tibet. After crossing the Nepal- China border our drive takes us to the vast and scenic Tibetan plateau to reach the northern side of the mountain. From the road-head after Old Tingri town, where a drive on the bumpy rough road takes us to the base camp of Mt Cho-Oyu.

It will take  22 days from the base camp for a safe and successful ascent to reach the summit of Mt. Cho-Oyu. During the climb superb panorama of Tibet and Nepal mountains and breath-taking views of landscapes.

After great success and triumph on the top of world 6th highest mountain, then we get back to Kathmandu following the same route with overwhelming memories and adventure on Mt. Cho-Oyu Expedition.
